What is the EFAX service?

  • EFAX is a part of the Campus Voice program by USC’s Information Technology Services (ITS) to upgrade the current wired fax service with a cloud-based platform called InterFAX. The EFAX cloud-based solution simplifies operations and management of fax services, enhances reporting, and improves availability within a secure and compliant environment.

What are the benefits of using EFAX?

  • Ease of Use: You can send fax from anywhere you can access your account and/or a web browser routes incoming fax directly into your email inbox or web application; therefore, it is more flexible than a physical machine.
  • Environmentally friendly: The application uses your existing USC-provided computer without the need for additional hardware.
  • Security: complies with HIPAA, FRPA, PCI regulations.

Can I keep my current fax service?

  • Yes, there is an exception process to retain your current analog fax service. Please use this LINK to request service and price information.  The link will be available soon.

Can I still use 5-digit dialing between USC Campus fax numbers?

  • 10-digit dialing will be required.

Will I receive a confirmation email when my fax is successfully sent or if it fails to send?

  • Yes, you will receive an email after sending a fax to confirm a successful send or transmission failure

What is the EFAX file size limit?

  • The EFAX attachment size limit is 20 MB.

Is there a limit how many pages of fax I can receive or send?

  • The outbound default limit is 100 pages, with no limit on inbound. If outbound needs to be increased, please contact ITS support.

Do I need administrative rights on my computer or device to use EFAX?

  • You do not need administrative rights on your computer to use EFAX service.

How secure is the EFAX platform? How is my privacy protected?

  • The USC EFAX service provides data and privacy protection through strong data encryption using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256.
  • This data encryption supports USC’s compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act (HIPAA), Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance
